Welcome to Hamburg

Hamburg, a metropolitan region with 5.3 million residents and Germany’s central logistics hub
is the place to be for the ITS community in October 2021.

The city is growing and, with it, the demands of industry and citizens for mobility are also changing. Hamburg sees this not only as a challenge, but above all as an opportunity for the development of intelligent transport systems.

ITS Strategy

In Hamburg, future mobility is not just a vision. In line with the city’s ITS strategy, more than 35 projects already explore the potential of digital trends for the transport industry today.

Hamburg is one of the first German cities to test autonomous and connected vehicles on a manufacturer-independent course right in the city centre. Other projects include smart parking sensors, traffic-light phase assistants and on-demand shuttles. Also the port develops and implements intelligent logistics solutions. At the Altenwerder Container Terminal, for example, automated guided vehicles transport the containers to designated locations.

HEAT

With HEAT (Hamburg Electric Autonomous Transportation), Hochbahn, Hamburg’s main public transport operator, is set to test its first automated electric minibus on public streets.

By 2020, up to ten passengers per ride will be able to travel through Hamburg’s HafenCity.

TAVF

A nine-kilometre long test track for automated and connected driving has been set up in Hamburg’s inner city.

The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is upgrading its traffic light systems to enable infrastructure to vehicle (I2V) and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) communication.

Mobility as a Service (MaaS) – switchh

Real mobility stations combine public transport with a range of other mobility services such as car and bike sharing.

In the near future, a digital platform will bring together our overall and multimodal mobility services.

A chance to showcase the present and future live

Take this unique opportunity and use the ITS World Congress in Hamburg as a technological platform to showcase your innovative products to a wide range of trade visitors. Gain new customers and prospects, discuss solutions and applications.

Show your competence in one of the six action areas at the Congress. Visitors like trade fairs where things move and happen. Demonstrations are intended to exhibit practical ITS related services and systems and will be a very useful tool in order to complement the regular programme with practical examples of particular interest in the field of Future Mobility.

Exhibition Campus

The exhibition campus is ideal for demonstrating modern technologies, whether you’re demonstrating inside the exhibition hall or on our outdoor area, or using the test track in the middle of the city centre.
